How this test works

Latency is the median of repeated probes; jitter is the mean difference between consecutive probes. Download and upload step up the request size from 100 KB until a single request lasts over 1 second; each request is timed on its own and bandwidth is the 90th percentile across requests.

Loaded latency is measured while data is being transferred. The larger the gap from idle latency, the more queueing (bufferbloat) on your line, graded A to F.

The page picks the lowest-latency server automatically. The Cloudflare test runs Cloudflare's official open-source engine, the same one behind speed.cloudflare.com (without the packet-loss step); other servers are third-party test servers run by ISPs and organisations, whose availability and bandwidth ceiling are outside our control. You can switch at any time.

Results are affected by your browser, device load, Wi-Fi and other devices on your network, and are indicative only. Submitting creates a shareable result page that stores only the measured numbers, the server, and your IP / ISP.

Command-line speed test

Test from a Linux / macOS server without a browser: it only needs curl, measures latency, download and upload against Cloudflare and the nearest servers, and prints a share link when done.
